The problem
Starting a vegan transition means a hundred small decisions: is this product vegan, where can I eat, what do I cook tonight. The answers are spread across labels, forums, and maps. veganoasis puts them in one place, for people who are just starting as much as for those who already are.
What I built
- Barcode scanning against a database of 4M+ products, with brand and ingredient details.
- A map of vegan restaurants, shops, and cafés.
- Recipes, events, and community groups.
- Photo analysis of dishes and labels with AI.
- In-app subscriptions and a referral program.
- Localized in 11 languages.
Decisions that mattered
- One TypeScript codebase for the native apps, the website, and the backend, so one person can ship all three.
- Convex as a realtime backend: no servers to run, and data stays in sync across devices.
- Every feature has to make the transition easier. No guilt, no sermons.
